Introduction to the ISO 17025 Internal Auditor Course

The ISO 17025 Internal Auditor Course equips delegates with the skills and knowledge to perform internal (first-party) audits of a testing and calibration laboratory management system in adherence to ISO/IEC 17025 within their own organisation, and to help prepare it for external assessment. Delivered by seasoned experts in quality management and auditing through EAS, IAS's sister organisation, the course blends interactive activities, case studies, and practical examples, and leads to a course-completion certificate.

Course Content

The curriculum combines ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements with the internal-audit discipline of ISO 19011:

• The structure of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 — competence, impartiality, and consistent operation of laboratories.
• General requirements — impartiality and confidentiality.
• Structural requirements — laboratory organisation and management.
• Resource requirements — personnel, facilities and environmental conditions, equipment, and metrological traceability.
• Process requirements — method selection, verification and validation; sampling; handling of items; evaluation of measurement uncertainty; ensuring the validity of results; and reporting.
• Management system requirements — documents and records, actions to address risks and opportunities, corrective action, and internal audit.
• The internal audit process per ISO 19011 — planning, conducting, gathering evidence, recording nonconformities, reporting, and follow-up.

Assessment and Certification
